vtNot too long ago I walked into my location Christian bookstore, totally unaware of the divine appointment about to be given. A friend of mine who works there introduced me to his friend Linda Miller. We hit it off immediately and chatted for quite some time about family, our faith and our awesome Savior.

Linda Miller is one of the strongest, most giving and talented people that I know! She lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she works for the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. Linda is a widow, a mother of four children, and she has eight grandchildren. Besides family, she loves God, music, and words. A gifted poet, her artistry with words has touched and uplifted many. Her purpose for being is to share glimpses of glory, to brighten the lives of those around her, and to affirm that God knows best even when we don’t understand.

    Awakening

I looked in the mirror,
And what did I see?
An absolute stranger
Staring right back at me

One with no beauty,
Even less grace,
With all of my failures
Etched there on my face.

There was failure to laugh
In the face of defeat,
Lack of determination
To change the bitter to sweet.

I saw signs that self pity
And the seeds of despair,
Had lingered too long
And gained footholds there.

So I picked up my courage
And cleaned off the glass,
Resolved to do better
Than I had in the past

To look beyond circumstance
When life was unkind,
To look to His Word
And see what I’d find.

Life here wasn’t meant
To be all sweetness and light;
Oft the real purpose
Is hid from our sight.

Someday in Heaven
All will be plain
Gone will be aggravation,
Disappointment and pain

No more need for mirrors,
For in each face I’ll see
The love of the Savior
Shining right back at me.
