The Looney Bin

Sit a Spell

Where would we be without our Christian buddies? I have the most amazing church family and friends. And really, what is the purpose of a church? We are here to teach all men about Jesus and to encourage each other until He returns. Without my little Jesus-lovin' friends, I don't know what I'd do sometimes. My friend Tami has told me many times that the books you read and the people you hang around with today will determine what kind of person you will be in 10 years…scary thought, huh? That's one really good reason to surround yourself with folks who always direct your thoughts upward... towards Christ.

I have a very dear friend like that. Her name is Judy. We are like Mutt and Jeff. I’m 28, she’s….well, she says it’s none of your business! I’m 5’10’’ and she’s like 3’2’’ (Not really. I just like gloating that I’m taller than she is). We have almost decimated the shopping industry in Branson, Missouri together, we’ve traveled across country together, listened, prayed and laughed with each other, and we’ve even been known to sneak into “haunted” hotels together. It’s a wonder we haven’t spent jail time together, too! She is just one of those precious people that you can call at two a.m. crying and she’ll be there to listen and encourage.

Another thing that I love about Judy is her generosity. She is one of the most giving people that I have ever known. Not too long ago, our church had been blessed to build a new educational building. When it was finished, we all looked around, soaked in the smell of fresh paint and thanked God for His abundant grace. But one thing we all noticed is that all the walls were bare. Well, Judy’s sweet nature kicked in, as always, went to a local Christian store and bought several hundred dollars worth of pictures to donate to the new educational building.

Let me just say this…Judy is one classy lady. Her home is decorated in a rich, Victorian style and her clothes are always immaculate. So when she said she had gone picture shopping, I knew they were gonna be the most beautiful pictures the store had to offer. And I was right; everything Judy picked up was gorgeous with scripture references matted into each frame.
